To build the Pyramids first, they used quarries to gather the material needed for these massive structures, then they were shipped along the Nile to the construction site where they were pulled on sledges – similar to the modern-day forklift. Though they took three decades to build, the Pyramids were a great leap forward for logical thinking and explanation. The most significant consequence of the Great Pyramids was advances in science, mathematics, engineering, and technology.

However, their belief in the afterlife is what continued throughout history, many modern Egyptian people are Muslim which is a religion that believes if you do good deeds, you will be rewarded at death and if you are a sinner in the eyes of their God, you will be punished to make up for any deficits. The Great Pyramids were tombs for the Pharaohs equipped with plenty of space to bring their belongings such as priceless artifacts, art and fine linens into the eternal life for Ka to enjoy, this has changed as Egyptians are no longer buried in the Pyramids. The Pyramids were used for religious purposes, and the ancient Egyptians were one of the first culture to believe in the afterlife, they called this Ka. The impact was that people centuries later wanted to continue building large structures as monuments and accomplishments of the area where they were built. A civilization with no mechanized tools built such large and strong structures, this was the basis for modern large buildings. The Pyramids, taking 30 years to build, truly defy the structures built in the 21st-century. These are historically significant because, until the 20 th-century the Pyramids were the tallest structures ever built and have lasted for over 4,000 years.

The way papyrus changed the way the ancient world and worlds centuries later recorded their history and culture and finally, the way their irrigation systems protected them and made farming simpler and more efficient. Today, the first legacy still stands, the Great Pyramids, how they built them with no mechanized tools still awes archaeologists today. Through this article, I will cover three of ancient Egypt’s greatest legacies left behind while considering the four historical thinking concepts: historical significance, cause and consequence, continuity and change and finally historical perspective.
